Our pearls are sourced mostly from small, family-run pearl farms from Zhuji, China that focus on quality and incorporate sustainable practices. The culturing pearls is both art and science and the result of many generations of refinement that requires a deep connection to the rhythms of nature. We handpick our pearls for our creations, which are made with love, and maintain the highest level of craftsmanship, quality, and style.
At Hazel & Marie, we design with a variety of natural styles and believe that the unique growth of a pearl enhances the beauty of the jewelry. Most of our pearls are all freshwater, which can be round, oval, off-round, ringed and baroque. We love to use various types of pearls that provide unique and one of a kind styles along with classic round AA quality pearl jewelry.
All jewelry is hand knotted on silk thread and secured with stainless steel or sterling silver to ensure that the strand never breaks and that the pearls never lose their luster. Although pearls do age with time, they become richer and more precious.
All natural pearls are grown into white, cream, yellow, pink, silver, and black pearls. A pearl can also have a hint of secondary color, or overtone, which is seen when light reflects off the pearl surface. Some of our pearls are naturally dyed through a process where their porous surface accepts a natural dye to bring more vibrant colors.
